First time we entered the restaurant , we are taken aback by the nostalgic decor that takes us back into 1940s shanghai. The afternoon's tranquility flows beautifully with the soothing music in the background. We were impressed to know that the songs played in the background were recorded by Grand Shanghai's very own songstresses. True enough, when we were there for dinner, a live band was playing. At night, the restaurant was transformed into a scene from a 1940s shanghai movie. The singer sang songs by Deng Li Jun and oldies such as 上海滩. All these reminds me of one of my favorite television series; 情深深雨蒙蒙. Slowly, we were falling in love with the place and could see ourselves having dinner there years later reminiscing on old times.
Soon after, we met up with the restaurant manager to discuss the dates. Not surprisingly, Grand Shanghai is booked for every weekend until March 2010. Luckily we had time on our side, it was November 2009 when we decided on the venue and placed our reservation for September 12th 2010. With the booking of the wedding venue, I had this monumental feeling of a start to a very long journey. It's a good feeling.
